Hyundai is the second largest automaker in our country and the latest version came into market as premium hatchback i20 (a car body configuration with a rear door that swings upwards to provide access to a cargo area) and which has been names as Elite i20 which is awaited to launch in India. Hyundai Elite i20 made its global debut, as the hatchback was never showcased before any part of the world. Elite i20 is has company’s latest design. Hatch has a European feel and flair along with highly sporty and innovative design. Hyundai i20 misses some of the features than the earlier hatch which has a flaunt but it is still desirable and tempting.

Hyundai Elite i20 is a phase out model which has both with petrol and diesel fuel trims. You can find five variants with every fuel trim-Era, Magna, SPortz, SPortz and Asta. It is a top- end trim and it is extensively hard on exterior and interior of new hatch which has super sporty appearance elegance inside the cabin.

Engine and Transmission

It is offered with both diesel and petrol guises, hatchback keep its engine with required fuel trims. However, 1.4 L petrol motor, used to come with automatic variant in the previous generation of i200 which can be phased out from the latest version. Petrol house is of 1.2 L Kappa dual VTVT engine. This 1197 cc, 4-cylinder , 16- valve power train develops a power output of 81.8 bhp at 6000 rpm and torque performance of 114 Nm at 4000 rpm. Diesel variants come loaded with 1.4 L U2 CRDi motor, which is also a 4-cylinder and 16-Valve motor. There is no place for auto transmission but the company suggests its launch

Mileage

The 1197 cc Elite i20 with Manual transmission delivers a mileage of 13.3 kmpl in the city and 18.6 kmpl on the highway. The 1396cc Hyundai Elite i20 with manual transmission returns a fuel with an efficiency of 18.4kmpl in the city and 22.54 on the highway.

 

Braking and Safety

Hyundai is a decent braking system in the hatch which consists of disc brakes on the front and drum brakes on the rear. It is an Anti-lock Braking system which is limited to top of the three variants. Hyundai i20 uses only hatchback under Rs. 1o lakhs which offers half a dozen airbags and offers safe. But now it is reversed where top- end trim has only 2 airbags. Spoetz trim comprises only driver’s airbags. Parking has a reverse parking sensors and a camera with ECM display will come handy during parking the hatch. There is front fog which cans improve visibility in any weather conditions.

Top- end trims also have a Sportz and Asta trims. Where top-end trim also has some seat belt for the driver and front passenger, automatic headlamps, impact- sensing auto door unlock company is disappointed in security and safety.

Competitors

Hyundai Elite i20 marked against like Volkswagen Polo, Fiat Punto EVO and Maruti Suzuki Swift. Mostly middle calss people will buy and it launched the refreshed versions of hatchbacks. Here, first Polo, Punto EVO and now ELite i20.

Exterior

There is no similarity in the outgoing model of Hyundai Elite i20 and hatch. You cannot even find in Exterior appearance. They wrap around headlamps and hexagonal grille with chrome linings, wider air dam and hood character are some of the highlights. Front bumper is wide and has fog lamps. Company introduced a ‘ Boomerang’-shaped tail lamp cluster

Interior

Wheelbase makes cabin more spacious than before and it should be flexible in legroom and shoulder room.  Interior is done with dual tone black and beige scheme along with dashboard. It has a Height adjustable driver’s seat with great features with adjustable top- end variant. The top trims also get an Engine where you can find start and stop buttons along with wiper and washer. It supports Bluetooth connectivity which controls on seating wheels it does not has glove box cooling.
